Runners Support WITNESS at New York City Marathon
An extraordinary team of five runners competed in the TCS New York City Marathon on behalf of WITNESS last Sunday. Our team ranged from longtime supporters to new friends; from multi-marathon champions to first-time runners; and from local New Yorkers to West Coast invaders.
But on a cold, windy New York day, all this made little difference, as each one of them got up and ran a grueling 26 miles for human rights change!
We were there to cheer on our runners as they passed through our home base in Brooklyn, sporting WITNESS jerseys and a fierce determination. And, like the activists and citizen witnesses we support, we had our phones ready to document the action.
Together, our team has raised an incredible $15,897 (and counting) in support of WITNESS — no small feat, especially while simultaneously preparing for a marathon! All of us at WITNESS are proud of their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to human rights change. We hope you join us in wishing a huge and well-deserved congratulations to the team.
