New Tipsheet – Interviewing Survivors of Gender-Based Violence

Women and people who identify with women are facing increasing threats across the globe- from impunity for sexual and gender-based violence offenders, to a lack of LGBTQI protections, to impeding and hostile takeovers from indigenous land protectors. This is why it is more important than ever for human rights defenders, journalists, citizens, and activists to be trained and prepared to support women and survivors of gender-based violence.

WITNESS encourages everyone to continue the fight and to strengthen support systems by using the power of video to safely and ethically empower survivors.  Our new tipsheet on Interviewing Survivors of Gender-Based Violence, adapted from a more comprehensive guide, offers guidance on preparing for an interview, filming tips, and more resources.
